    Hi all,

Whenever I drop an mp4 file into the program and "reconvert" to an avi file the process is always smooth. I use the "batch convert" mode to achieve this and the resulted file would always open fine for me to drop it in Vdub reconvert to whatever I wish.

One thing that is weird though is that the program will cut the first 4 seconds of any clip that I will reconvert with it.

Thus if I drop the avi file in Vdub it plays fine but the first 4 seconds will be black frames. Now if I playback the original mp4 file the first 4 seconds are there, it is only once I processed it through the program that this side effect will occur and so far all files dropped in it ended up with the same result.

Any idea why this behavior is happening?

    Thanks,

    Phil

Are you converting(called recompressing in mp4camtoavi) or just remultiplexing(called no recompressing) in mp4camtoavi?

You can also import mp4 directly in virtualdub with a some plugins(directshow or quicktime I think).

    Hi Baldrick,

Not sure, the only thing I do is select the source file, set the "action" to Batch convert (Many - Many AVI) and click on start.

It repackages the mp4 into an AVI which makes it readable in Vdub. That is done without recompression, even with a 1.5gb the process takes about 15 second, so definitely no recompression involved.

I know about the plugin but it didn't do anything for me, which is strange because I copied it into the plugin32 folder, and it seems to load when I open Vdub but it still tells me that the file is unsupported.

Any suggestions for either one of the issue mentionned here?

    Thanks,

    Phil
