what is the alpha? does alpha not exist in a digital picture from a digital camera?
-
there is no alpha channel in a convential digital still camera , the jpg images would be RGB24 (8,8,8)
alpha channel is used for transparency. All NLE's work in RGBA to allow for compositing
you can read up the basics on alpha channel on wikipedia
