  1. Is there a software method to keep my captured DV footage from splitting at each start/stop of the camcorder? I am copying a few DV tapes to my HD via USB using WinDV. Since the clips are very short & numerous, I hate having to join each AVI file before I can encode to MPEG-2. I will not need fancy edits, just some cut & splice.

Am I missing a setting in WinDV that makes it start a new file name for every start/stop of the camcorder ? Should I use a different capture software ? I use Canopus Edius to edit. Is there a batch import that I am missing ?

BTW, I HAVE changed the setting in WinDV so that there is no file splitting at a certain size, so that's not it.

What am I doing wrong ?

Set the "Discontinuity threshold" to zero (0).

BTW, interactive help for all the settings is available on the WinDV website.

    Hope that helps.

DVIO will capture whole tape in to one file but don`t have preview.
