Is there any tutorial on how to get this program up and running? Ive downloaded alot of dll and plugin packs and still cant open movie files. Doing searches for a tutorial is no help. It just gives me links showing how to use the program after you get it up and running.

  2. What kind of files do you have? VirtualDubMod's MKV support is outdated and useless. You might be better off with VirtualDub and its new input plugins. http://www.virtualdub-fr.org/telechargement. You'll also need VFW codecs for the video and ACM codecs for the audio. You'll need those with VirtualDubMod too.

I think you should try a comparable free program called Avidemux, get the latest SVN build from here:
    http://avidemux.razorbyte.com.au/
get SVN build revision 6129 dated 15 Apr 2010, which should be the latest - or just get the latest.

In my opinion better than Virtualdub/virtualdubmod, and as easy to use.
