  1. Hey, not sure if you lot can help me but would be great if you can.

I just bought a Home cinema system, one of those built in DVD player 5.1 systems and it is not upscalling to 1080p even though i have a 1080p LCD and am running it through a HDMI cable.

The cinema system is the LG HT304SU, not sure if its avaliable in america or not but in the manuel it says you have to press the resolution button on the remote until it turns to the resolution you want it but it doesnt change it just stays at 576p :S. Any ideas at all?

Would be great if you could reply.

    Thanks alot.

  2. I have found out what the problem is....

The resolution button only works if the TV is a LG as the home cinema system is and my tv is a Panasonic. So sadly that button doesnt work.

Does anyone know how to upscale it manuelly or even get an LG remote to work on a Panasonic :S

Which model Panasonic TV do you have? I'm assuming it is an HDTV not a computer monitor?

First, if you send 576i or 576p to the HDTV, it will upscale itself to screen resolution. If this screen resolution is 1920x1080, the TV will upscale from 720x576 input.

Second, many consumer DVD discs have protections that inhibit an upscaling DVD player to 576p output. Test with a DVD disc you made yourself and then see if the player will upscale.

If it does, then compare picture quality when the player upscales vs. the TV upscale. Results vary.

  4. Hello, thanks for your reply.

My Panasonic is the TX-L32S10BA. As regards the DVD i have played the DVD in a different upscalling DVD player and it upscaled fine. So dont think its an issue with the DVD Disc. I also used the same HDMI cable as well so dont think its the HDMI cable either.

Im just totally confused as the picture resolution it is giving out (576p) is really poor compared to my old DVD player which upscalled to 1080p fine.

PAL DVD is 720x576. As said above upscale can be done in the player or HDTV. If you feed 576p to the HDTV, the TV will upscale to 1920x1080p.

If another player upscales and this one won't with the same DVD disc, it is an issue with the home cinema system player. Possible reasons.

1 Upscale inhibit protection on the disc (most commercial discs)
2 No HDCP connection. Try recycling TV and player. Turn TV on first with DVD player selected. Then turn on player.
3 Faulty "home cinema system". Call tech support

  6. I called Technical support and they didnt have a clue why it wasnt working. They said they would said me a USB with update information on it think that will work but i said that i wont bother, and desided to take it back and swap it for another system.

Went for the LG ht805ph and have to say its 3x better. Their were settings on the DVD player to change the Resolution not like the old one and the sound on it is double as good.

No problems with the knew system what so ever.

Thank you for replying and giving your best to help out, its much appreciated.
