I had 12 DVD's made (and I thought finalized) about 5 yrs ago using a Panasonic recorder (I had played the 'finalized' DVD's on my PC to ensure they were finalized). Recently the Panasonic bit the dust so I bought a BluRayt player/recorder. The DVD's wouldn't play...nor would they play on my new PC. I found CDRoller through an internet search and was able to recover all of the DVD VOB files (converted to MPEG). One DVD was difficult. I could only recover 4M of a 4G DVD. I contacted CDRoller and they responded immediately with instructions to recover the files. I really recommend the sw. PC![]()

I have been able to recover 100's of problematic mini-DVDs from our Sony camcorders using this software. Our organization, Give Kids The World, had quite a back-log of mini-DVDs from our Sony camcorders going back as far as 2006. Because of the extreme usage placed on these camcorders and the many different people who use them, the resulting mini-DVDs have been hit-or-miss. With CDRoller we have sped up our recovery process, and we are very close to eliminating our backlog of erred discs. The software has been easier to use than our previous solution (ISOBuster), and has recovered many discs that other recovery programs have not been able to do. Other software had read discs as "Blank Disc" or "Empty Disc." Even though CDRoller sees these discs the same (Blank or Empty), we were still able to force a scan to recover valid video and photo data.
The support team at CDRoller walked us through the first batch of mini-DVDs to get us underway. This assistance aided us greatly and helped us to narrow down a work-flow that was efficient. We have found that the use of LG drives in conjunction with CDRoller works best. We have also had good luck with some Samsung drives. -
Yes, [CDRoller + LG drive] seem to be a solution to read the "empty" discs. I had a similar problem with DVD-RW recorded by my Panasonic DMR ES10. I examined CDRoller with the following drives:
- TSST SH-S223B
- Optiarc AD-7240
- LG GGW-H20L
- LG GH22NP20
The both LG drives were able to find and retrieve the lost movies, other 2 devices - not. -
I had about 20 precious family DVDs that I recorded on a Panasonic DVD recorder but when I tried to play these on a new player, they would not work. With CDRoller I was able to recover the .VOB files from the discs, convert them to MPG, and burn them onto discs which definitely now work. I had several questions for CDRoller support which were answered on the same day, even on weekends, so their back-up service is excellent. I would thoroughly recommend this inexpensive software to recover DVDs.
