I think it's only a configuration setting (cache maybe?), and I'm not knowing which one or how - need to know what the RANGES are first...

But the problem is that all my videos look better in 32bit XP playing in Media Player Classic, than playing in MPlayer Movie Player, with x64 Hardy. CPU is 3x core, 2G memsticks, so hardware isn't the problem I don't think.

What configuration settings should I start with?

  2. I too think videos on my own MPlayer look worse than they did on MPC-HC. I can't figure out why, though. It might be a levels issue, or a colors one. Or the scaling might be poorer.

Have you been able to rule out any configuration changes that have no effect?

Frequency scaling - this is a hardware configuration?

My mobo (new build) does NOT recognize my CPU model; it IS compatible, and a BIOS flash I think is in order. BUT, wouldn't that effect BOTH operating systems equally?

  4. The MPlayer playback system is completely different from MPC-HC's so the reason could lie anywhere. It's probably not got to do with your BIOS issue, though.

You can post a sample video here, grab a frame under your MPlayer, and ask someone else to grab the same frame with MPC-HC (stating the settings/renderer/decoder involved). Then we can compare the two and look for differences.
