Man...Am I pathetic. As soon as I decide on what I'm goign to buy, I think, "Maybe if I just spend a little more money, I can get better capture quality"..LOL!! I am now contemplating almost triple of what I was originally going to spend! My wife is going to kill me
Anyhow...I recently have seen an example of the analog to digital conversion that the Sony DVMC-DA2 is capable of and was impressed. I was wondering if anyone here uses the DV-500 for TV/VCR capture. If so, can you comment on it's quality? Can anyone here maybe send me a sample of something analog that they captured using the DV-500?? I'd be forever indebted
Thanks for any comments or help.

If you plan to go all digital and never ever use analog then skip DV500. I see you want to import VHS too. Well. You may find the Dazzle Bridge cheaper for this. But editing software needs to be considered in your purchase if you go that way. DV500 imports the analog video thru it's own card which is not compatable with other 1394 devices except for Pinnacle tasks.
Pinnacle is a real time production which means many effects can be viewed without rendering and Pinnacle provides at least 300 wipes and dissolves in real time.
Pinnacle captures the video in Pinnacle AVI DV in NTSC 720*480 or PAL and Cropped, Widescreen or widescreen cropped features. You can adjust the settings for input ie Brightness, contrast etc. I have not seen other capture cards at work, so I cannot compare the quality. Sorry.
You can output thru ADOBE Premiere which is bundled. However, export thru EZ Cleaner is not the best if you are going to mpeg1.
The forum web site will answer many questions on the use of this product. It all depends on what you want to do with editing and capturing. If you are going to just take VHS copies and transfer them to your PC for VCD or DVD conversion then go cheaper.

Z...E-mail me for a sample of DVMC-DA2 capture. We'll figure out a way to get it to you (ftp?).
