  1. hello, first of all I apologize if this has already been covered (if it has I can't find it)

I have a video file on my computer that has 1 audio track but it has English dubbed over with Russian and I need to know how to remove the Russian so it will just play the english

If it's "english left - russian right" or vise versa then it can be done. If it is just
russian talked over the english then forget it. There is no magic button or software
    that can do that.

The search I tried to link was just for "Russian".

You find many, many threads, most of them asking this same question.

Why the hell don't Russians use subtitles like anyone else would for a foreign movie?
Having a movie dubbed is bad enough, but who would want to listen to a monotonic voiceover for 2 hours?

    That details the history
Doesn't explain why they don't use subtitles.
I've heard some pretty awful dubbed movies, in places like Thailand, and here in Hong Kong the Japanese, Korean and Taiwanese soaps are dubbed into Cantonese.

But even the cheapest of them use several voice actors. Not one "lektor".

It could hardly cost any more (probably a good deal less) to have someone type up a translation and make subtitles, money can't really be the issue.
