I checked some of the posts here in VideoHelp.com. They all said that if you want the subtitle shown when watching a .ts file, you must first extract the subtitle from the .ts file into a separate file. That means you must prepare two files. Is there really no better way to simplify the job? For example, is there a program that can play the video with audio and subtitle shown without making any extra subtitle file?

My present situation is that I have some .ts files recorded from my digital TV recorder. The .ts file contains video, 2 audio tracks (English and Chinese) , and a subtitle stream (Traditional Chinese). It contains some commercial ads with no subtitle. The subtitle is for the TV show. Without extracting a separate subtitle file, I successfully play the video with selected audio using KMPlayer, VLC Player or Media Player Classic Home Theater. The only problem is that no subtitle shown can be shown. What is the easiest way to solve the problem?

    Please help. Thanks a lot!

What kind of subtitle? Open with tsmuxer and see if you see any subtitle info. If not it's might be closed captions.

What are closed captions? Do you mean hardcoded subtitle? If not, can you tell me more about it?

I did not use tsmuxer. But I tried ProjectX to demux the .ts file and it produced .m2v, .ac3 and .sup files. I am sure they are video, audio and subtitle files respectively.

Those subs should work. Try install haali media splitter and play with mpchc. And be sure to enable the subs under play->subtitles or navigate->subtitle language or play->filters->subtitles in mpchc.
