  1. Hi,

I have a Philips DVP3260 DVD player and this player worked without any errors since month. Also I have updated the firmware with http://vb6rocod.lx.ro/dvp3260_12.php

But since yesterday something strange going on. When I power on the dvd player it always "sends" play/pause signals in random periods.

E.g. when I start to view a movie I see that by OSD display in upper right corner of the tv.
Pause icon... then Play icon... 20sec I can view the movie... then again Pause icon for x seconds... then Play icon... and so on

What can I do?! I don't think thats a firware problem (because the player worked without problems for month with that firmware from vb6rocod).

    Thanks

  4. Cover the IR receiver on the player. Any better?

I also thought that the remote control goes crazy and sends this play/pause signals but that's not the case
For example when I push the play/pause key direct on the player and hold that key up to ~90% the play/pause craziness is away and I can watch the movie. But sitting 30cm in front of the dvd player/tv and push & hold the play/pause key is not my prefered way of watching movie

  6. I was thinking it could be the remote or something else in the room causing the spurious pauses. I would still cover the IR receiver to see if that changes anything. By standing in front of the player and holding the play/pause key maybe what you're really doing is blocking that other signal.

Ok, testet cover the IR but nothing changed.... still play/pause/play/pause

Only way I can still view moovies without "play/pause/play/pause interruption" is to press and hold the hardware play key directly on the dvd player.

That rules out a stray IR emitter problem.

I would try reverting to the original firmware. But I suspect it's time for a new player. Philips DVD players aren't know for their reliability.

Ok, found the original firmware on philips homepage but the problem is the same...

When I send the player back to philips will they see that I have flashed another firmware before (now the philips original firmware is on the player)!?

They might (especially if the firmware version is different from the version the player was shipped with). However, it should only matter if you have custom/hacked firmware installed, or a bad firmware update (=bricked player, most likely). Otherwise, as long as you have the official/unaltered firmware installed, Philips shouldn't have any problem with it.
