Hi guys, long time since my last post. Been working in florida.
I,m having a little problem in convrting an mp4 file to an avi.
I,m trying to convert with winff, which i,ve used before with
success. My problem is that when i convert and play the video
back it looks like my tv is set to 4.3 with black edges either side
    of my tv.
Any ideas or settings that i should use with winff so that i can convert
    and play in 16.9.

Any help or advice would be great.

    P.S. I,m still a bit of a newbe.

Try convert it to 16:9 resolution/video size, like 640x360.

Or try change the avi display aspect ratio to 16:9 with mpeg4 modifier. But the player might ignore it.

Hi thanks baldrick for quick reply.
Can you tell me, is 640x360 video size the actual setting for 16.9.
What i'm trying to say is would i have to do few conversions with different
video sizes to see whats best. If so it's not a problem.

    Thanks again for quick reply

What is your source video size?

It's called square pixel aspect ratio if you have the video size the same size as the display aspect ratio. 640/360 = 16/9. If you make an avi it's best to make the square pixel aspect ratio same as the display aspect ratio.
