  2. No clue, but sounds like a problem I'm having where neither TMPG Enc nor Virtual Dub recognize my DivX avi files.
I've tinkered and tinkered and my only idea left would be to convert the .avi to something else, but nothing I have even recognizes the video in the .avi!
    Plz help.

  3. maybe it's because you might have encoded it to mpeg-2 and you don't have any dvd software installed. 8)
need it to watch svcd's I think.

  4. That's not what's goin on with me...I have DivX .avis that run fine...in DivX player and nowhere else. You can only get them as DivX .avi becuz they're anime fansubs.
I'm not sure, but I think windows isn't recognizing the DivX Codec...and that causes all of my video related problems. The problem is that I have no clue how to get windows to use the codec for .avi files...
    thx fer help...

  5. yep the file your encoding is useing a codec that tmpge cant use
i downloaded some files and that happened to me
the file was encoded useing ms mpeg 4 v3
so i had to convert it useing virtualdub to ms mpeg 4 v2
so just covert the file to a dif codec

  9. I've fixed it!
    And almost on accident!
I decided to poke around on cnet.downloads to try'n find an avi editor, downloaded winVDR barely understanding what it was talking about, installed it, and now TMPGEnc runs beautifully! Time to burn my first VCD!!! ^_^
Thx fer all your guys' help!
