Hello.
I had a house-mate of mine make a back-up. The trouble is that the x264 / mp4 that we now have is 2:35 and looks stretched width-wise, when it ought to be 1:85.
For avi files, the solution is simple - MPEG4 Modifier. Load the file, tick the desired Display AR and then save.
It doesn't seem that easy for a x264 file. Looking around this site, I found some older threads on Yamb, as a GUI for MP4Box. My brain started to bake and so no progress was made.
Rather than re-rip, I would like to understand this problem and be able to fix it, so that I may be able to fix any future mistakes.
Can anyone suggest how I can most easily / simply change the Aspect / Display AR of an MP4 (x264) - from 2:35 to 1:85?
Thanks!

Yamb supports pixel aspect ratio flags. You'll have to know the pixel aspect ratio though. I suspect you're video is flagged 16:9 PAR when it should be 4:3 PAR.

Alternatively, you could mux the video into an MKV container which supports display aspect ratio flags. If you know the video is supposed to display as 16:9 you can just set the DAR to 16:9.
