  1. I need some help with Avatar's Subtitles (Region A, US).

I ripped the movie using DVDFab 7 and converted it using HandBrake, however I cannot find the Na'vi subtitles. They aren't located in the main stream under english subs, and I would like to be able to add them into my .mkv file. Does anyone know where they would be located (possibly a secondary stream) or is there an easy way to find out?

    Thanks

You could try rip out subtitles with clownbd or HdBrStreamExtractor ( https://www.videohelp.com/download/eac3to318.zip includes hdbrstream and eac3to) from the blu-ray. To view and convert the subtitles use BDSup2Sub.

I've tried that, however all it sees to pull are the Closed Captions. Any Na'vi part just says (NA'VI SPEAKING). The subs are in a special font, thats why I'm wondering if they are In a separate stream or something.

I believe the first on-screen subs were around 10 minutes in when Jake meets Sigourney Weaver. There weren't many, but they were there

Open English subtitle from 0002.m2ts with bdsup2sub, export as sup file. Check 'Export only forced' checkbox.

  7. The software I was using neglected to see the forced subs, but using Suprip I created an SRT file of all the Na'vi subs. I'll attach it here for anyone else as all the subs i could find were basically crap.

  8. THANK YOU AlphaDeltaVIII!!!

I've been trying to find the English navi subs within the 24 subtitle tracks in the m2ts file but since it takes ages to do so, haven't found it yet!

this saved me, w00t! I love exploring my blu-ray files though :P....but i mustn't not know the easiest way, I was just literally extracting each one and seeing whether it was the right one or not.

I did find the french navi-only subtitles (track 24) but was aimlessly trying to find the english ones...

    PERFECT!

There were some, in places where characters were speaking Navi* but it was important to the plot that you could understand them --- if you didn't see that in the cinema then something had gone badly wrong and you may have been puzzled as to what was happening in a lot of places!

However the writing was in ... =spit= Papyrus font, so you might be as well just to write down what they say and when and remake them manually

*I refuse to go along with this whole spurious-apostrophes-in-names disease. For a start, what's the missing part of the contraction it represents?

Back after a long time away, mainly because I now need to start making up vidcapped DVDRs for work and I haven't a clue where to start any more!

You can't actually see the Na'vi subtitles in Bdsup2sub or any other subtitle software that I found until after you export them with Bdsup2sub using the 'Export only forced' option. The resulting file is the actual Na'vi subtitles from the movie without the regular English.subtitles.

  12. Perfect thread since I spent the entire weekend trying to make the MKV container with subtitle to be forced to play when streaming with Tveristy or making an AVCHD/blu-ray structure disc.

So with the Navi only SRT someone posted and a good 1280x720p MKV (English 5.1 DTS), what the the fastest way to embed the subtitle into the movie and prep for AVCHD disc at the same time? I've tried TSXMUXER, MKVToolNix, Ripbot264, and MKVtoVOB with no luck (subtitles will not show, selected or embed). help please, TIA.

I use HDBRStreamExtractor to extract the English SUP from Avatar bluray. Run BDSup2Sub and get the 2 idx/sub files. Named them the same as the mkv file and playback with MPCHC. DirectVobSub will load automatically when it sees external subtitles. There is an option in DirectVobSub to display forced sub only or the whole entire English sub. It is in yellow color, position and fonts just like the original bluray.

  15. I know this thread is a little old but maybe some one can point me in the right direction. I have two mkv 720 HD movies (blu-ray rips ), the Godfather 1 & 2 . Neither one has the forced subtitles in them, (the parts where they talk Italian). Two questions. 1) Is there a site where I can download just the forced subtitles for these movies. 2) If the answer to #1 is yes, what software can I use to put these forced subtitles back into the movie? (is it called remuxing?). This gets confusing. Thanks for any assistance!
