PowerDVD plays DVDs fine on my Windows 7 system but Media Player Classic only plays video, no audio.

After I installed this codec pack: http://shark007.net/description.txt - the sound came on. Well I don't want to install the whole pack and risk conflicts etc., so can anyone please help me decipher which codec made the sound come on when playing DVDs using Media Player Classic?

Most likely AC3 for Dolby surround sound and stereo audio.

If you just need the AC3 codec, try AC3Filter

Yes, AC3Filter by itself enabled sound on DVDs on Windows 7.

Out of curiosity, is there any other freeware that installs just the AC3?

    Thank you.
