How can I make it sound like the rockets are coming from behind the rock? and you know when it crashes the rocks start falling how can I make it sound like that?     You need to use an audio editor that understands 5.1 surround and lets you keyframe the audio as it moves from channel to channel. The easiest best I have used is Sony Vegas Pro.

  3. If you are using stereo the there are a number of ways. If you have binaural in ear microphones they imitate the postioning in the real world as your ear lobe helps you position the sound , having the microphone sin ear gives the illusion of the same positioning. works best on headphones though.
    apart from that there is a vst plugin that will work with most audio editors called
    Prosoniq Ambisone


    which allows for a variety of interesting spatial effects with stereo.
    Just bouncing the mix down from 5.1 to stereo will do nothing more than pan the image across the stereo mix from left to right or whatever and will not likely give the illusion of depth.
