    Hey gang, i have an mpeg file (.ts) that i want to analyze so it will tell me exactly how it was encoded, gop setting etc.... i'm trying to figure out this information so i can go ahead and convert other files to the exact same format / encoding settings. is there a util to do this?

    Maybe mediainfo will give the information you need.

    If the file is MPEG2, GSpot will show the GOP info. If it is H.264 (AVC, AVCHD etc.) Avidemux will show the frame type as you step through it.
