    i keep getting this error message even after it told me to update

    Ashampoo Burning Studio 9
    Reading not complete
    could not read from disc.(Sector 1489488)

    What exactly are you trying to do ?

    If you are trying to rip a protected disc, use DVDFab HD Decrypter or have AnyDVD running the background (current versions of both - don't let them get old)
    If you are trying to rip an unprotected disc try DVD decrypter, or ISOPuzzle if DVD Decrypter has issues. You could be looking at a dirty or scratched disc.

    Of course this is all wild guesses, as you really haven't given us much to go on.

    was trying to copy a homemade dvd, when i got the error

    i got the same error before i updated

    this is what popped up on my desktop,.

    Ashampoo Burning Studio 9
    Reading not complete
    could not read from disc.(Sector 1489488)

    My guess is that you have either a damaged original, or a bad burn on the original. I would try ISOPuzzle if the original disc looks scratched.
