I'm thinking many of you may try and steer me away from using fluorescent lighting for video but I'm working in close quarters and the various incandescent bulbs I've tried generate too much heat. There's a guy on the web who claims to have real good luck with 5000K full spectrum, natural color tubes, using electronic ballasts to avoid flicker and hum. Here's the link: http://www.bmyers.com/public/857.cfm?sd=30 The folks down at the local photo and hobby shop, on the other hand, told me to use "day light" bulbs, rather than full spectrum. Any thoughts or opinions on that?

No real comment on the color ranges of fluorescent bulbs, but I assume you are aware that most video cameras have settings for different lighting, including fluorescent. I also have a lens filter specifically for fluorescent light color correction. Probably what you need is a neutral gray card or camera test card to adjust your camera settings and white balance for the type of lighting you plan to use. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=grey+card&N=0&InitialSearch=yes

I used to recommend daylight balanced lamps for photo/film and video shooting. A friend of mine turned me onto full spectrum lamps for doing digital photo work and they seem to perform quite well. I think that the same would be true for video as well.
Good luck!
