Hi all. I've been trying to make my Panasonic DMP-BD60 Bluray player region free for the last few hours with no success. I've followed the instructions here --> https://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks/panasonic-dmp-bd60/10033 religously but with no luck.
The only think I can think of that might be buggering it up is that my remote is a URC-8305 instead of the URC-8308 used in that post, but it still has all the same functions and the process works fine until the very end when my system is supposed to reboot but it never does.
I've programmed the DVD button to 0490 (so it switches the player on and off) and then for the key magic steps I followed the manual's instructions, for example...
I press and hold the magic button for 3 seconds until the light flashes and the screen changes.
Then I press 'key magic'
Then DVD
Then magic once
Then I enter the five digit code (i.e. for button 1 - 00191)
Then I enter the corresponding button on the remote - i.e. 1
The screen goes back to the magic screen and I do it all again for numbers one to zero.
So so far everything seems fine, but when I switch on the player (without a disc in it) and press all the buttons in the correct sequence nothing happens - the player does not reboot.
I've tried pressing the buttons as fast as possible, with a one second gap in between and with a longer gap in between but it never reboots. I've also tried keying in the button sequence as soon as the player switches on and when it gets to the blue screen with the player saying 'no disc' but again it doesn't reboot.
I must be doing something wrong somewhere but I can't figure it out and am close to throwing the remote out the window, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Robert

You could try this method:
http://www.avforums.com/forums/blu-ray-dvd-player-multiregion-hacks/368649-panasonic-d...l#post12890849
A little different model of the URC remote, but if you have the Magic button on your remote also I think it will work. -
BluRay players usually can't be hacked at all. Sometimes the hacks only work on models sold elsewhere (usually this means Australia). There can be other problems like the hack will work on your player but only at a lower firmware level and so on.
You could always rip the DVD to a PC and reburn it as a region free DVD. Of you could get a DVD player that can easily be made region free. Philips still makes players that can easily be made region free, but check before you buy as all models can't be made region free.
