I am currently using the program Dartfish to measure distance from target and to my horror i found out half way through that two of the video cameras did not produce the same output. one uses 320 x 240 (4:3 aspect ratio) but the other is 720 x 576 (aspect ratio 5:4) and is looking elongated and measures the distance differently. Would anyone know how I could write a formula to account for the difference in excel? My apologies if this is not considered related to video.

    You could resize the 720 x 576 video to 768 x 576 (4:3) and measure again

    Thanks for your reply.
That is what i should have done before i started
I have analyzed 14 hours (out of 20) of video already and really do not want to redo all the measurements as there are an average of 30 markings every 5 min.

Forgive my curiosity, but what are you using these for? Sounds... odd

To make it a bit more comparable it might be worth upscaling the low-rez one to the same size (768x576) with a good quality resizer (say, AviSynth's Spline64) so no other maths hiccups are introduced. Though you then do have to make sure you're clicking the centre of the resized pixel, so swings & roundabouts.

BTW - before you go any further - are either of them widescreen? You'll want 1024x576 for the large one if so (may be worth feeding it thru AVS/Spline64 if accuracy is important), and (unlikely!) an oddball 427x240 for the small one. Or do both to the superlarge size.

Back after a long time away, mainly because I now need to start making up vidcapped DVDRs for work and I haven't a clue where to start any more!
