  1. Hello,
I have a DVD (Un tour ensemble from JJ Goldman) with a Stereo and a DTS track.
The strange thing is that the DTS track is seen by any software as LPCM track as the stereo one.
When I rip it with any software I get an iso that seems to work, but when I listen it on the my system, I just have noise (while it works from the DVD on my blueray player).
It seems that the DTS track is not "tagged"correcly.
    What can I do?
Does any body have already seen a dts track under lpcm?

Thanks in advance for your replies...

I am not exactly sure that I follow you.

You have a DVD that has both an LPCM stereo track, and a DTS track. I got that much.

The strange thing is that the DTS track is seen by any software as LPCM track as the stereo one.
I have no idea what this sentence means.

Technically, as DVD video may not have just a DTS audio track, and the DTS should not be the first track. This is because DTS decoding support is not mandatory, so most DVD players don't have it built-in. They pass the digital stream of the DTS audio to a decoder (usually in the amplifier) which turns it into sound.

So are you trying to rip the DTS audio track to put in onto a CD for playback in a standard audio CD player ?

If so, it won't work. It is possible to put DTS onto an audio CD by converting it to 44.1kHz sample rate and putting into a WAV container, but it is still a digitally encoded audio stream and will only play back on something that can either decode DTS natively, or can pass the digital stream via optical/coax/HDMI to a decoding amplifier. If you play the same CD back in a standard CD player you get pink noise.
    Read my blog here.

  3. Thanks for this first reply and sorry to not have been very clear.
Yes the DVD have two audio track the first one is stereo and is marked as LPCM, and the second one is dts 5.1 stream but is marked as LPCM also. I say "marked" because it is what is displayed on all extract software and on my TV screen when I select the second track, but my amplifier recognise it well as dts when I read it from my DVD player.
When I play it from my DVD player it worker because I think it just pass digital stream via coax. One day I tried it on a first price DVD player and I got just pink noise.
What I want to do is rip my DVD to store it in an iso on my multimedia HD. And if possible I would like to keep the DTS track.
But, when I do so, I just have pink noise... while I have no issue with my other DVD with dts that I have ripped into an iso and that I read on my Multimedia player.
I think I should say to the rip software that this second LPCM track, is not a regular one but a dts.
Am I clearer? I hope, but may be not

What program or programs are you using to rip? Don't say "any software" but tell us what programs you are using. VLC is free and it can play DTS. I'd suggest that you use it to play the rip. If the DTS track won't play under VLC then something is wrong with your ripping program.

  5. Thanks again for the info.
In fact when I play the dvd with vlc (on the pc directly without any rip) the sound is also only noise.
But when I play it on my dvd player the sound is dts on my amplifier.

For info I used dvdshrink 302 to rip the dvd

So I tried to fix the dts track:
I used vobedit to demux the vob
then i tried to fix the 2nd wav (the one corresponding to the dts track), with dtsparser where i found a link here: http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showthread.php?tid=2636
but the generate file has a size of 0

Now I do not know what to try else.

for info, ifound on this page in frensh http://www.dvdreamscape.fr/goldman-ensemble.htm that the version of the dvd I have has a not correctly enceded dts track. Ok that why I would like to fix it as my DVD player can play it on my amplifier

  6. With this command:
BeSplit.exe -core( -input xxx.wav -output yyy.dts -type dtswav -fix )
I have fixed the dts file which is now readble by vlc. I should now be able to remux my DVD.
    I let you know...

  7. That's it, with ifoedit I have recreated my vob inspired from the procedure found here: https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/178132-How-to-replace-LPCM-by-AC3-before-shrinking-a-DVD
    And it WORKS
Thanks again to all of you for your guidelines...
    See you.

Thanks for all your tips; I bought the same DVD and it also has the DTS problem.

I need help. I tried installing BeSplit and I can't make it work. When I run it, the main screen shows up, but it immediately disappears.

Why is that? Is there something I should be doing differently?
