  1. I can't figure out how to do this. I have two audio tracks that are designated right and left (each slightly panned to right or left) and I want to wind up with one stereo track. This should be really normal and easy. Perhaps too easy to actually find any questions or answers for it on YouTube or the web. Any help is appreciated.

Load them both onto timelines, sync them up, adjust the pan if necessary, then output as a stereo track. You don't have to put them onto the same timeline to get stereo output from them.

Right, but that's what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to convert two audio tracks into one stereo track. I'm thinking the only thing I can do is render the audio tracks and then bring them back in, which seems rediculous. There must be an easier way.

Why do you need them to appear as a single track on the timeline ? The output results will be the same anyway. If you need to work on them as a pair, select the two tracks and group them.

You could put 4 separate audio tracks into Vegas and if you were exporting to say MPEG2 stereo it would produce a stereo audio track. All you would have to do is pan the separate audio tracks to either Left or Right or in-between for a centre fill. It's all there in the help file btw.....

After you have exported your work to a new file if you were to load this into Vegas you would see immediately a video track and a stereo pair on the time line

  6. OK, so if I set the levels for each track, the two tracks combine will wind up being at that same level, then? So what I was trying to do isn't necessary, I guess. I'm concerned about having consistency of audio levels in my YouTube vids since some of them were varying quite a bit from others, I'd noticed. I thought that by having two separate tracks, I wouldn't be able to get an accurate level in Soundforge

Monitor the preview playback with the peak meters and your ears while setting levels and pans for each track.

Using Vegas you can also insert a compressor limiter in the output chain to restrict the dynamic range and make your track sound louder on Youtube. There are a number of built in audio fx and compressors and reverb etc. as well as video fx.
