Background: I'm trying to rip all of my blu-ray discs (and DVDs) to my HTPC. I have a 2TB drive and may get another 2TB, so space isn't really an issue. Right now, I don't have a surround system--my HTPC is just plugged directly into my TV using HDMI for audio and video. I have an Intel DH57JG mobo (w/ built in HDMI out) and an i3 processor, which has a built-in GPU that I'm using. My goal is to store all of my BDs and DVDs in the highest quality possible so that I don't ever have to re-rip them when I get a better sound system, etc. However, obviously they still need to be playable now on my current setup. I'm trying to rip: 1) the video file, 2) the highest-quality audio track, and 3) English subs all into one file.
I seem to have figured everything out just fine with one exception: I can't for the life of me get audio to work on movies with LPCM. I don't want to rip the DD tracks b/c I want to have the best possible audio, but whenever I rip the LPCM tracks the video plays fine but there is no audio. This is true whether I rip to MKV files using MakeMKV or whether I rip to m2ts with TsMuxer. I've tried it with just Haali media splitter installed and also with CCCP, Shark 007, and K-Lite codec packs each installed on their own. I've also tried it in both Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center on Windows 7 x64 and Windows 7 x86. No matter what I do, NOTHING WORKS!!!
I realize that I can convert them to FLAC and would probably have more success that way, but I'd prefer to not be forced to use that option since it takes longer and involves more steps. I also believe I did get it to work one time in Media Player Classic, and could probably get that to work again, but this is for a HTPC running Windows Media Center 7, so I need them to play directly in WMC. Also, yes, I do realize there is a trick to get MPC to launch from WMC, but again I'd prefer not to use that. Surely there *MUST* be a way to just play LPCM audio on an M2TS or MKV file on my computer.
PLEASE HELP!! Any advice is much appreciated!!
