Finalizing DVDs

I had a Philips DVD RecorderR3455H on which I made several DVDs. Unfortunately, I had not finalized them before the Philips suddenly quit working. A Toshiba DVD Recorder D-R7KC can read them but not finalize them. These DVDs are important and I am wondering if it is possible to transfer them to a computer DVD -RW and then finalize them on the computer. I will be getting a PVR from Telus (my Internet/television provider). I have been informed that a PVR can be hooked up to a computer and you can transfer your recorded shows to a computer an then make DVDs from the computer. Does anyone know if there is software that can enable a computer to finalize my DVD -RWs from the Philips machine? ( I would not need the Toshiba if a computer DVD -RW can save my DVDs!).
