You can't easily refill your own toner carts. Some are impossible.
Your standard OEM carts are better than generic refills, often within just $10-20 of one another.

Here is a refill cart from SMS, available from $30: http://tinyurl.com/ydverzf

Don't compare printer costs to ink/toner costs. That's where they planned to get you all along.

    Monoprice has these:

Looks like they are out of stock for a couple more weeks if you can wait that long.

Another reason why I like Minolta lasers, I can set it to 1% warning level, and still just choose to ignore. Eventually it will print degraded quality, but it never refuses to print!

I have a Brother HL1430 at home it just keeps going until it runs out. I tried refill toner carts over the years but found they were a waste of time. Print quality degraded fairly quickly with toner smearing on pages. Now only use the real thing. Inkjets.. well thats a different story.. Always refills when I can..

http://refill-toner.com/brother/208.html, ie for Brother HL 2140

Samsung ML-2010 here ... new cartridge is refilled twice then thrown ... this prevents keeping toner cartridges which have increased work load wear ... which is the cause of smearing and other print quality problems.
