Can't play f4v files.

I can not play some f4v files on my Win XP PC.

I've tried playing them with:

VLC
Media Player Classic
Windows Media Player
Moyea FLV Player
FLV Player

Some of those players 'appear' to play the audio only although no sound is actually played.

Please advise me what to do.

try renaming extension to .mp4 , use kmplayer which should be able to play most, or re-wrap them into mp4 with yamb or ffmpeg

Thanks for the suggestion.

KMPlayer also will not play the files, regardless of what file extension I give the files - tried mp4, flv, avi, wmv, mpg, and the original f4v.

KMPlayer gives me the error: No combination of filters could be found to render the stream.

Yamb crashes when I try to load the files for demuxing ('Extract').

Any other ideas?

By the way I just looked in VLC and the video codec is listed as: avc1

you may need to install a newer mp4 splitter (source filter)

do you have a directshow avc decoder? e.g. ffdshow

No. I meant in some of the players I tried the audio appeared to play but no video and no sound was actually played.

Solved the problem. It's a DRM issue. I need to use Adobe Media Player and enter a user/pass.
