  1. Hi all. I know that this question has been asked on this forum but i cant seem to find it. I have downloaded a japanese movie and a seperate .srt file. I would like to add subtitles to the movie. I use virtualdub and add the text sub and then the srt file. then i use full compression but when the movie is done, it is out of sync with the subtitles. The subs seem to be either behind or ahead of the movie and the audio, i cant tell which. If someone could please help me step by step with syncing this subs properly i would greatly appreciate it. I am not too familiar with framrate options but i assume that i must fiddle with those to sync the movie with the subs. Thanks for the help in advance.

  2. If they're so close to being in synch that you can't even tell if they are ahead or behind, then what's the problem? Anyway, if you want to adjust the synch, one way is to open them in SubtitleCreator, go Synchronize->Set Delay, fill in the amount you want them to play ahead or behind and save the new subs. If they're from a PAL DVD and the AVI is from an NTSC DVD or vice-versa and you want to change the framerate, go Synchronize->Convert Framerate and take your pick.

Sorry, but that's all I or anyone else can tell you at this point because your post was so vague as to border on the useless.

  3. The subtitles are about 10 second behind the speaking...

  4. So fix them. Adjust the delay by -10 seconds, save them, and play them along with the video. Adjust them some more until they synch up. Then reencode with the fixed SRT subs.
