my SATA Optiarc DVD RW AD-7240S will not play video dvds it will detect, burn, & erase!! I have 2.30 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3 GB ram I'm running both Win 7 & Ubuntu 9.10 64 bit the motherboard is BIOSTAR Group TF560 A2. when in any media player it will play for a few seconds & then freezes. If i play any other video files from HDD they play fine. It's just not playing from the optical drive!! If anyone has any idea what could be wrong PLEASE let me know

Your mobo uses NVIDIA chipset controller....try downloading the latest drivers from the NVIDIA website and not at the Biostar mobo website. Mobo's using NVIDIA chipsets will have some problems with SATA Dvd burners....also in the mobo bios disable RAID because that will also affect the drive from working incorrectly....if after updating to the latest NVIDIA chipset driver and the problem continues then try removing the drive and install it in another computer.
another option is to purchase a PCI SATA CONTROLLER card that uses the SILICON IMAGE 3112, 3114, 3512 chipsets.
