  1. Has anyone captured from a laserdisc source and made into a VCD? What were the results? What's the quality like?

Just wondering because my laserdisc player is about to give out. Would it really be worth archiving my favorite out-of-print titles that aren't on DVD?

    Any feedback greatly appreciated.

I have done about 50 laser disk captures, I capture at 640x480 using either huffuv or picvideo compression ( no noticalbe difference), the result will not as good as a dvd rip is pretty darn close, better than a vhs copy of the laser disk.

  5. I have made several captures from laserdisc to SVCD with very good results. The only bad feature is most movies take 3 discs and some 4.

I've been using virtualdub with picvideo plug-in & tmpeg encoder. If you use the best settings in tmpeg encoder, quality is very good, but it takes a long time to encode.

Anybody know how to get the AC3 track onto SVCD so a DVD player can play it back?
