Ok so I am trying to encode an episode of Lost from the region 2 dvd to mp4 (PSP) format. On XP, this was no problem using MeGUI and the PSP 2-pass preset with a few tweaks on the avisynth script.
I recently got a new computer with Windows 7 and installed all the necessaries (as far as I know). Now when I open the .vob in MeGUI and select DG creator, select the audio I want etc, the d2v (or whatever it is) is created apparently with no issues. Here is the log:

HOWEVER, the output picture is 720x96 pixels, not 720x576 (pal) so only the top of the picture is displayed!? When I try to use avisynth script creator to resize to 480x272 it will only accept 96 pixels or less for the height. Where has the rest gone? What is going on? This is driving me insane, please please somebody help...

poisondeathray, thank you very much. I've followed up on all of your (very sensible) suggestions and am fully up to date with software, but the same thing is happening. If I try to force resize I end up with 480x272 picture of stretched 720x96 area, iykwim.
Now, the interesting thing is that if I use DVD Decrypter / Ifo mode / Stream processing and select RAW (and only raw), the resulting video will open in MeGUI successfully, so I can circumvent this problem, but I really want to know why MeGUI won't manage to open the vob by itself, as it did on XP. Any ideas? -
This suggests a problem with copy protection or ripping or setup with your configuration. MeGUI can only open things that you've prepared properly. If it's being fed a stream full of errors, it can't do anything about it.
DVD decrypter hasn't been updated for years, and doesn't work on newer copy protections
Perhaps you haven't configured your system properly , with permissions, or system filters. Make sure you run as administrator and try https://www.videohelp.com/tools/Preferred_Filter_Tweaker for win7 -
poisondeathray, thanks again.
I'm now able to get the full image and encode as normal.
However now there is about 2 seconds of black frames appearing at the start of the output video file - meaning the audio is out of sync. I never had this issue before either.
Any clues?
