I have a 1 to 3 Acard, had a one-to-one with HD image backup before.

    1. Different discs - same result (i.e. new disc after getting message)?
    2. Different drive - same result.

Check the size of the original disc - if it's a dual layer, the Acard definitely will NOT attempt to burn, because it'll be searching for 8.5 DL media and a drive that it can burn too - of which it cannot.

If the original is Cd and you're burning to DVD = NO GO - or the other way also.

Never forget Acard's tech support - even if you're out of warranty, you can read your way through the forums to find an answer.

If none of the above works, mail me the Acard card - maybe I can get it working.

    Hi thanks for your reply

the discs im burning are data discs that were blank initially and have been written

I have burnt the same stuff before and the same discs before so its unusual to be honest

Ive tried different discs to burn and still get the same result

I really am thinking its the controller

I am going to take it to pieces later and then maybe come back to you

    Thanks for your help
