    mencoder conversion
    http://v3.phpmotion.com/videos/817/sng

these are both the exact same original file

At 9 seconds a symbol comes in, and is noticeably flat and has a loss of the high frequency, while you tube's keep's that frequency very well.

Obviously you tube's converter is something different entirely. But I want to ask if anyone has any tips for trying to get my mencoder audio quality closer to that of you tubes? I changed the sampling rate up to 44100 which does not make much difference. Thanks.

New youtube uploads are being converted to mp4 (h264+aac), aac provides better quality at same bitrate as mp3 thats why your youtube upload sounds better, its not mp3 its aac

you can convert your videos by using minicoder and select medium profile and mp4 as the output, after that remux the mp4 to flv with avidemux and upload to blip.tv, blip.tv wont reconvert your flv file, you can embed the video on your site without any kind of watermarks on the video or player unlike youtube.

or you can use avanti to convert your videos, select the h264 profile and then change container from mp4 to flv...simple
I love it when a plan comes together!
