Is there any software that checks if the .avi movie will play on a modern dvd player so I don't have to waste burning DVDs?

Sometimes DVD player plays the .avi video fine but the sound is garbled, of course on the PC every single time .avi videos play fine....so, how am I suppose to know if an .avi video will play fine on a DVD player without wasting DVDs?

No. There is no such software.

For best chance of success, follow the guidelines here:

This sticky is several years old, yet somehow it never occurred to you to look at it? There are no 100% guarantees, ever. But don't use the options in this sticky and the odds are very high that your DVD player will play your files.
