Hello, I upgraded to windows 7 Ultimate and have just connected my sony HC90 handycam.
Microsoft indicated it was installing the device.... and then it was ready to use.

Sony's website say its all hunky dory, that everything is included and everything will be fine.

    But it is not.

Within devices and printers of the control panel it shows a Sony DV device listed as connected.
However, in the device manger I have no indication of anything sony but instead I have 61883 class bus device listed as a problem
it shows the device cannot started (code 10)
    WTF

Windows is on its 7th generation and it still doesn't tell you straight? code fkn 10? how about a real answer for once?

Anyway, have any of you come across this? does anyone know how to get my HC90 recognized and listed as a device in WinDV.... Let me know

Complete uninstall and re-install, the device installed with faults but is now operational as a Microsoft dv device in winDV.

  4. Yes, this is a NTSC vs PAL problem. Are you trying to play an NTSC tape in a PAL camcorder (or vice versa)? If so, always put the tape into play/pause mode before launching WinDV.

BTW - regarding the Code 10 thing. Code 10 means "Device cannot start". The number is provided since not all Windows installations are in English. Code 10 arises because the device (not Windows) doesn't provide a reason as to why it cannot start. You need to blame the device vendor for the vagueness.
