  1. Hey to all.
I encountered a problem, most of the font of subtitle inside the DVD video object is "arial", it made me mad that in arial font, "I" has the same shape with the letter "l",so when I used the ocr program to covert sub to srt,all letters "l" would become "I",I don't wanna correct the words one by one,I want someone to help me solve the problem. That's all, thanx.

  2. You can't automate it. You can fix many of them with a global subsitution. If all your I are l, you can convert " l " to " I ". If all your l are I you can convert all I to l, then convert " l " to " I ". You can use an editor with a spell checker to make it easier too.

I find that a lot when I get a subtitle from a site like opensubtitles.org.

You can do search and replace to fix many of these once you notice a pattern.
Eg, do a case sensitive search for a lowercase letter followed by a capital I, convert to l.

If you use Word, use "Wildcards" to do this correctly.

After that do a spellcheck and find all the other errors. There really is no way to completely automate it though.

  4. Heck, I don't even like the capital "I" to look like an "I", but an "l". So I do a case sensitive search and change them all.

That said, the SubRip Spelling Corrections after the OCR is pretty good about changing small letter "L" from "I" to "l".

I think it preferable to choose a font where you like the I design rather than scrambling the spelling.
As long as you don't share the file I suppose it doesn't matter.

Screenfont.ca has a professional examination of subtitling fonts. I use Lucida Fax myself most of the time.

  6. I like Comic Sans MS. Thick rounded strokes. Hate serifs in video.

Lucida Console, Vera Sans Mono, Consolas.

    Comic Sans is evil.

  9. I have my browsers set to override all web pages with Comic Sans MS with a minimum 16 point size. I can't stand skinny fonts like Lucida Console. When I need a fixed pitch font it's Fixedsys.

My default font is Georgia, a very nice serifed screen font with some traditional niceties, like old-style figures.
    Very legible and has good contrast between 1, l, I, 0, O.
