Did you try updating the firmware? (Sorry, I don't know how to do that with that particular player.) I've seen some posts elsewhere that imply there may be some regions in which AVI/MKV playback will not work, but that type of limitation usually seems to be for users in the US, for some reason.

It looks like this player is buggy https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers/lg-bd370/10016

if you download the Specifications (right side) there is nothing about MKV ,or DIVX.The 390 does both plus wireless.
looks like you didn't do your homework when you bought the player.

If the problem is caused by a regon lockout you could try to see if this model could be changed to region zero it might unlock those functions.
-
can it be that the new firmware do not accept divx/mkv ? or it's a limitation for all bd370 (US) players ?
-
yakvocs. I did some research and I saw that some functions like the divx were not available in the US, most likely this function is just locked out. It is conceiveable that the region code is responsible. On the youtube link there was even a poster that had spoken to tech support and they said it was probably bogus. Since you are in Israel it's possible some functions may not be available in your region. Are MKV, or DIVX even listen in your manual?
-
i live in israel but the dvd from us , in the manual mkv and divx is not mentioned ...
-
Do some research and look for a code to make your player region free.
-
i did here https://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks/lg-bd370/10016 (i tried evrything there ) so what i know for now that the crack doesn't work for me. to crack the region code i need to downgrade the firmware to V3.886.00 and then crack it but i cant do it because my firmware version is BD8.08.017B and the unit made in Nov 2009 and since oct/nov 2009 it unable to downgrade the dvd (the made some block or something )
-
Making the player region-free most likely won't allow you to access abilities locked out by the firmware.
You can see if someone has modified firmware that'll enable those options, or see if someone has the firmware from another area where they do allow those features, but that's a do-at-your-own-risk sort of thing. You can damage the player, if you're not careful. If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them? -
well like i said
the main problem is that cannot upgrade or downgrade my firmware ! my unit do not see the upgrade on the cd.
-
Firmware upgrades/downgrades usually require the CDs/DVDs to be burned a specific way, with the firmware having a specific filename. You're using a US player, so you'll need to follow the directions on LG's US site for the player (and use the firmware you can find there).
However, unless one of the later or newer versions of the firmware for the US version of the player did allow you to view AVI/MKV, simply going between versions of the US firmware isn't going to help, much.
Does the player have the ability to go online and update itself, that way? On the other hand, since it has a USB port, you can probably update/downgrade the firmware from a USB pen drive, too.If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them? -
yes , it can be up/downgraded form the internet , about the usb, i tried to downgrade with the usb but still it's not working,
is there any way to hach the BR region system ? to see A/B/C ? its alot more important to me than evything else -
I couldn't tell you, really. Most Blu-Ray players these days are (apparently) usually made region-free by actually modifying the hardware. There are supposedly some that are region-free off the shelf, but I don't remember which ones those were (and the media's probably doing all they can to put an end to that).

You really did no research at all before buying.
The BluRay players that can play BluRays from all 3 regions are basically limited to Oppo and Momitsu/Hitecker. Oppo requires you to do a firmware hack after purchase. The Momitsu/Hitecker players have been hardware hacked by resellers AFTER the player left the manufacturer. The BluRay licensing agreement demands that all manufacturers not make players that can be made region free for DVD or BluRay playback. Right now we have maybe a handful of BluRay players that can be made region free for DVD playback by entering a code (this technically is probably a licensing violation, but a few big name manufacturers have released such players). Oppo and Momitsu/Hitecker are the only players that I have heard of that can be made region free for BluRay playback, but both require modifications to be done after the unit has left the manufacturer.
The USA and Canada are the most region locked places in the world right now. I would not recommend that anyone buy a player there from any major manufacturer if the buyer cares anything at all about region free playback. Israel is a PAL country and uses different power than the US, so buying a DVD player in the USA was a poor idea for you. I'm guessing that you got lucky and got a BluRay player that can work on dual voltage, but many players sold in North America can't.
