Hello,
I have made a film for a friend and copied the DV to my HD in DV-AVI format.
Because i had 2 camerás working the authoring the final DVD will take some time. Of course my friend is very curious about the raw results and he wants to see (and have) the original AVI's.
What codec can compress from 15GB (DV) to, let's say, 2 GB and preserve reasonable quality and no compatibility problem.
I've been thinking about divX 6 and adding the driver on the memstick???
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

Yep, it would work fine. Try the very simple divx converter.

Only if the friend is definitely using a recent version of Windows.
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?
