I am setting up HTPC with Hauppauge HD PVR and I have a ton of questions.
1) It appears that both the TS and M2TS files saved by the PVR are interlaced according to what I am seeing during playback and also reported by Mediainfo. Is there any way to capture deinterlaced or does that have to be done after capture? If after capture what application would be best to do that.
2) The only mpeg editor I've found so far to edit TS directly is TMPEG DVD Authoring Works 4. It appears that TPMEG DVD Authoring Works re-encodes after trimming; is there a way around this? Are there other applications that are better suited for trimming out commercials and also provide deinterlaced output. I tried Moyea Converter but did not care for the imprecise frame editing.
3) For archiving on hard drive is there a single file format that is better than others for both captured video and ripped DVD/BD. I have been saving as ISO but not sure that makes sense.
4) If anyone is aware of a good guide that will help me with these and many other questions related to PVR capture I would really appreciate posting that link.

If you capture 1080i it captures Interlaced, If you capture 720p or 480p it isn't interlaced.
It captures whatever you feed it.If I'd known I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself.
