I've been keeping an eye on this for quite some months now, very interested in it. Now all the bugs that needed to be fixed for first release are fixed I think we should see a release quite soon. The only thing i think that may be an issue is that VLC is still at 1.0.x and VLMC seems to require 1.1.x

will we need to install VLC? Or will there be a VLMC zip/portable version like VLC?
I love it when a plan comes together!

VLC is a great player. It 's my number one. It plays everything. If a media doesn´t plays in usual players, I try on VLC media. Usually, in VLC it works.
Now VLC media has an video editor.
VLC player it' s free. I hope VLC video editor be too.

If you mean VLMC then keep an eye on the git - they are working quite hard on VLMC these days:

Mine crashed on import of media

720p PhotoJPEG MOV caused the issue. I havent got time to look at it properly now but will take a look properly later.

My first test project crashed as well. As stated it "will eat your dog" I'll toy with it later and posta ticket with issues. Noticed transcode was disabled at this point and my download.

  13. Great news. Can't say it's very stable atm. but it is very nice that they let us sneak-peek in this pre-alpha version on Windows. Encountered a lot of playback crashes.

And some more great news: Lightworks NLE goes open Source!

    Read here: http://trac.videolan.org/vlmc/wiki/Downloads
Please keep in mind that this is an early release, and that it will (probably) crash many times.
Please open up ticket when you find a unreported bug !

Ok , i know it's an early release, and that it will (probably) crash many times, but i didnt expect it to crash all the times.
On http://trac.videolan.org/vlmc/wiki/Downloads says " Please note that VLMC requires at least VLC 1.1.x (only available in git!)" , and i dont have the newest version of VLC instaled, so.. i'l give it another try.

VLC 1.1.x is only required if you are downloading the source code and compile yourself.

But yes, so far it's only for testing a few seconds....it's PRE-alpha.

I think I have all of you beat. My first attempt at getting it downloaded crashed.

The servers must be taking a hit.

  19. Chouquette's blog:

    VLMC 0.1.0 released !

By Hugo on Wednesday, April 14 2010, 09:47 - VideoLAN
    Good news everyone !
The first pre-pre-...-pre-alpha of VLMC just has been released for win32. Please keep in mind that this is realy just about testing, and is not intented to be fully functionnal. Many bugs can occur, even crash, and using it may lead to an early end of the world.

If you're willing to test it though, you can find it there : ftp://ftp.videolan.org/pub/videolan...

Please, and I really meen it : please keep in mind that we're currently only two developpers, and that vlmc is developped in our free time. Before yelling at us because vlmc didn't work the way you expected it to, think twice (and maybe more). Instead, if you find a bug, even the smallest one, if you feel something needs improvements, if you think of a nice feature, or if you're willing to help us, please do ! Open up tickets (www.vlmc.org), send us patches, come and discuss with us on IRC

Have as many fun as possible testing VLMC !

Lots of work in the git...
It must be really dificult to do a windows build cause nobody does it...I wish I had the skills...

  23. I have tested it a while back i didn't find it very stable. What i expect from such a freeware is to fully use DVXA for h264 acceleration.Basic (but nice) text effects, transition, multiple videos why not but not a prority.

Heh, i bought corels video studio pro, and it crashes on h264s as well - so this project has something in common with the big companies at least.

  25. There's a 0.2.0 version (which I assume will still be pre-alpha) comming out pretty soon. And looking at the change log, they've been cleaning the code up very nicely. With any luck it wil work better.

    http://www.facebook.com/pages/VLMC/193702521749

Please report any issue you encounter (but please check there is not already an opened ticket first !)
    http://people.videolan.org/~jb/vlmc/vlmc-0.2.0_gitd8a4dfb.exe

This doesn't include effects, that are untested on windows, however, you can find a separate effects build at http://people.videolan.org/~jb/vlmc/effects.7z
Just extract them in your [vlmc_path]/effects/ directory
Carefull! This is a test version and it will crash often, but it is nice to follow the progress of VLMC.

The effects don't show in the effects panel(I did put the effects in the effects directory) and the other thing that I notice is that I don't have a project preview when draging the slider, only on play.
