  1. I'm trying to author a DVD with DVDauthorGUI but I'm having a problem with one disc: the program requires a demuxed input, but when I demux using either5 rejig or DVDdecrypter, the 2 hours 5 minutes feature gets demuxed only to 39+ and 54+ minutes respectively. The VTS_02_0 file shows the correct time but the VTS_02_1 file which is necessary to use DVDauthorGUI is incorrect. Can someone recommend a demuxing FREEWARE program which won't make this mistake...or a HASSLE-FREE FREEWARE authoring program which will let me add subtitles without demuxing? DVD flick ruins the image so that one's out.

    Thanks for any help!!!

  2. Most people demux using PGCDemux. Load the IFO and if there's more than one PGC in that particular VTS, choose the one you want from the drop-down box.

However, I question your assertion that you're getting 'shortchanged' in the demuxes you've done already. Most players don't give you the correct length of an M2V. Did the audio file demuxed at the same time have the correct length? If so, if you open it in GSpot or MediaInfo, I think you'll see the videos are also the correct length.

  3. Thanks, I'll give PGC a go.

The extra video is present but it can't be accessed, either by a go to a time, a chapter, or via fast forward..the track stops then and there. The subtitles were also flawed, but that's a different problem. Still, 125 minutes as opposed to 39 or 54 seems like more than just a glitch...my methods to date aren't picking up the time coding on most of the disc.

  4. Is this a DVD you've made yourself that you're reauthoring with added subs? Is it a retail DVD to which you're adding subs? Why is there something wrong with the DVD? Is it scratched or something?

  5. It is indeed a commercial DVD, but it was issued without English subtitles. I downloaded a set of subtitles and want to add them to the film. There is nothing wrong with the disc, and it copies fine as a backup...but the demuxed file does NOT contain the correct set of timecoding. That is the problem

Are you trying to demux a copy, or from the original disc ?

  7. I've tried both ways, with the same results, after making a copy shrunk to a DVD5.

How many titles does this disc have that need to be demuxed ? You first post indicates several.

For the sake of this disc, which seems to be a unique problem, you could try VOB2MPG to get MPG files of each title, then rejig to demux the MPG files.

  9. Several things: First; SOLVED SOLVED SOLVED --- PGCDEMUX did the trick! What a handy program! I'll try it with some other troublesome discs, too!

Second, just one title, the feature being in VTS_02 where VTS_01 was the extras.

Third, for the curious, the solved problem was done on he shrunk copy.

Thanks for the help and interest, guys (and/or gals)!
