i received a DVD-R of home movies that plays fine on my sony standalone, but won't rip on my Creative dvd drive, which has the latest firmware & a current aspi layer. i have tried several ripping programs to no avail. WinDVD does not recognize the DVD at all. i tried just copying the VOBs to my hard drive, but these VOBs won't play or work in any conversion programs either. are there any compatibility issues with DVD-Rs and older PC-DVD drives, or is it the way the guy burned the DVD-R (i don't know what app he used)?
thanks.
