  1. I use VLC to check my DVDs, as I re-author.

Tools I use to re-author include MenuShrink, PgcEdit, VobBlanker and IfoEdit. I've got a nice process that results in smooth playbacks and working menus. From time to time, however, something odd crops up - from the source disc - as it just has. My most recent re-author is fine, but it has an odd foible.

When I right-click the screen area of most films (using VLC), during the playback of those films, I am able to choose: "Title" and then "DVD Menu". That usually returns me to the Root / Main Title Menu.

With this backup, doing so returns me to the Chapter Selection Menu. That's not a big problem, but I would like to be returned to the Root / Main Title Menu instead. This is obviously not a "first play" problem, as it does then go to the Root / Main Title Menu - as it should. It is just a problem with returning to that menu, from playback.

How could I change the behaviour of my backup (the behaviour also being present on the source), to return me to the Root / Main Title Menu instead of the Chapter Selection Menu?

    Thanks.

It is always possible to edit, but details may depend on position of the desired menu on disc. Is that menu in the same VTS as the movie? If it is there, then one (the easiest) of the possibilities is to set menu category (like 'root', 'chapter' or any unused) for that menu PGC (if not set) and change post commands (in movie PGC post-command list) for addressing that menu.
In case the wanted menu is anywhere else on disc, but in the same domain as the one currently accessed after playback, you can use indirect navigation. Just write some number into unused GRPM (as the first post-command in the movie PGC) and add conditional transition to the wanted menu PGC (also reset that GRPM) in the beginning of pre-commands of that other menu's PGC.
This can be edited with DVDRemake or PGCEdit.

  4. Show us the same pic, but of the movie (Title 1), What's the post command for it? You want to go to the Root Menu rather than the SubPic Menu

  6. So, when the video is completely finished it returns to the Main Menu? It's only when you hit 'Menu' while the video is playing it goes to the Chapter Menu?

  7. Apologies. The reason I posted "incorrect image" is that I was just rushing out and didn't want you to bother with that post.

The images I posted were to illustrate another issue, that I am discussing with a friend. Please treat this post as the "correct" beginning of this thread. Take the text from my original post and the image from this one, together. The question remains the same:

How could I change the behaviour of my backup (the behaviour also being present on the source), to return me to the Root / Main Title Menu instead of the Chapter Selection Menu?

As you can see, the film and menu are NOT in the same VTS (Even I was looking at the images I had posted and wondering what the mistake was, so excuse the confusion.):

I am quite sure that you'll need to see more shots, to follow a path, so please let me know what's required.

I'll also see if I can send a PM, each, to clarify and to avoid messing up this thread.

  8. A pic of the VMGM PGC 5 might help but, assuming it's not too complex, changing a command there to something like 1 (JumpSS) Jump To VTSM 1, Angle Menu (TTN 1) should do the trick. I assume at the moment it's having you go to the Chapter Menu, right?
