  1. I have an mp4 file, and the only thing I can do with it is play it on a newly upgraded version of VLC Media Player. (the previous version wouldn't load it) . When I try to import it into Sonic so I can burn it to DVD, it crashes. Even when I try to import it into Sony Vegas for editing/converting, it crashes.

I'm guessing this is one of those annoying "codec" issues. The last time I tried adding codecs to my system I was up all night searching for the right ones online, downloading questionable software... I much prefer it when the solution is to upgrade my existing software than installing 3rd party codec packs...

If I could just convert the file to another format so I can edit it and/or burn it to DVD I'd be set.

    Any suggestions?

    thanks!

Well Gary if you are desperate you can download the demo version of Adobe After Effects and use that to convert it.
