I just finished backing up about 35 of of home DVD movies using this program. The backups look great on my computer when I play them back using Windows Media player. Today I burned one of my backups onto a DVD disc to see if it would look as good as the original but it doesn't. It doesn't look clear at all, it looks a little fuzzy. I showed it to my wife and she also agreed that it didn't look as crisp. I'm not sure what the issue could be?

For my video editing I have always been using Pinnacle Studio 11 and never had any issues with quality. I do want to mention that the video did take forever to open when I imported it into Pinnacle which was very strange. It took about 10-15 minutes to open the file with Pinnacle. I didn't add any transitions or effects to the video. I burned it directly to DVD just to see how it would look on my TV.

What should I do? I would really like to have the same video quality from my backups. Please help...

Here are the settings that I'm currently using in Pinnacle Studio 11:

--Capture format is set to "DV". Capture at full DV quality.
    --720 x 480, 29.97 frames/sec 4:3, interlaced.
--Background Rendering "Set codec auktomatically" Current MPEG-2
--Make Disc settings. DVD, PCM, Best Quality

Pinnacle is reencoding the video - resulting in degradation. It doesn't need to as the mpegs produced are in the correct format for DVD. Are there any settings in Pinnacle which produce the DVD without reencoding?

I checked all of the settings in Pinnacle Studio 11 and all I could find under settings is an option that says, " Always reencode entire movie ". I made sure that the box was Not checked off. I burned another DVD with the same poor results without adding any edits or transitions. I'm not sure what else to do at this point. I'm guessing the only solution is to purchase a different video editing program. Is there a program that you recommend that will allow me to add a Main Menu to my video backup without having to reencode the entire movie? Thanks.

I also noticed when I'm burning a DVD backup in Pinnacle it takes really long. It says, "Writing frame 19154 of 81089 frames". It goes through the entire backup before it burns to DVD.
