    Gday,

I have a Commell LE-370 embedded motherboard that runs bootable cd's of linux etc, however I cannot get it to install windows 98!! - I am wanting this for compatability of the software I will be running and have 256mb ram and a 1.6ghz cpu fitted (tho can fit others).. The IDE cable that came with it has a mini IDE connector for the main board and another one mid cable but a full soze connector on the other end (CD/DVD, HDD etc).. I would like to run this from a CF card instead of a regular HDD but the adapter I have tried with the bios refuses to pick it up - yet orks fine on a OLD laptop... Any Ideas????

    Thanks, James.

    Just for reference: http://www.commell.com.tw/Product/SBC/LE-370.HTM

The website lists W98 drivers, so I assume W98 will run on that MB. Running it from a CF card might work. The board seems to be able to boot from a SSD (Solid State Drive), so it should be able to run from a CF card, but you would need to format the card properly and the on-board BIOS would need to recognize a CF card as a boot device. I would check the BIOS options for boot drive. If not, then it's a BIOS problem.

Yeah Thanks mate - I have been on that site already. I will have to try the onboard CF adapter and see if that makes a difference. I am just doing a test install of XP and that is going ok (with onboard CF not a IDE-CF adapter).. It was just going to be a low power pc for the shed... The only other problem is that I have to wait 10 min or so after each reset or shut down before I can turn it on again - no biggie for regular use tho - just annoing when istalling the os.
