  2. WDTV cannot read ordinary DVD structures. It can read an .ISO file, or individual .VOB files or many other codecs like .mp4. You need to rip your DVDs as a single VOB file for best results, or use .ISO. If you use the usual factory VOB structure, you will notice a pause or break between files. Naming gets to be a problem also.

You have a bit of work ahead of you. Either rename ALL of the VOB files or make an .ISO file out of what you have. You cannot get menus or chapter marks in either case.

I have no clue as to why your mp3 files do not play. Perhaps they areat an unsupported bit rate.

Moving you to our dvd ripping section.

I thought iso images worked on the wd hd. See http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1101848

  4. To repeat, ISO files DO work on WDTV. You just don't get menus or chapter points. Special features I am not sure about.

I had some problems with the firmware that came with my WDTV and they were solved when I updated. I strongly recommend this.

The WD is not reading your external drive for some reason.

There are two threads on the WDTV depending on which unit you have...
