Did you select DVD Size = DVD5 4.7gb? I had no problem and by the way I am using V7 64 bit.
Sorry, you posted log as I was typing I guess, didn't see it before posting.Last edited by ricoman; 17th Mar 2010 at 15:05. Reason: explanation

After all that info in the log file I dont see where it says I selected the DVD5 4.7 .
At any rate... yes. it was at the DVD5 setting. I usually look things over about three times before pressing the start button. -
What I meant is... I DID have the DVD5 setting activated when I encoded the video.
But for some reason, the size of the video was produced 2% too large so I cant burn it to disk.
Not sure what I did wrong, but at any rate it seems AVStoDVD has a slight bug to it. Can anyone tell by the log whether I made an error or is this really a bug? -
Here is the Developer's forum on Doom9. http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=126647
Ask there and post your log.I love children, girl children... about 16-40

@ehunter
wait, why have you changed the automatic video bitrate (calculated by AVStoDVD to fit the DVD-5 size) to 4000 kbps?
You have been warned by the RED progress bar in the main window and in the popup message before project start:
DVD Video Standard: NTSC
DVD Titles number: 1
DVD Size: 4524/4450 MB (102%)
DVD Output Setup: DVD Folder
DVD Label: DVD
DVD Menu: No Menu
Output Folder: C:\Temp\DLs

Yes, I have been changing settings, and did experiment with the setting in the AUDIO/VIDEO tab >DVD VIDEO RESOLUTION from AUTO to Full D1. I did change it back but was never confident because the estimated size was not changing right away.
Eventually I did get the estimated size to retreat back to 4450 (100%) The encoding went fine, my burning went fine… I am a Happy Camper now.
One thing that bothers me about AVStoDVD is that is that every time I changed/saved a parameter setting a popup message would say, “Preferences will be applied to NEXT project”. Does this mean I have to start/stop the software to make the change in my CURRENT project to take effect? I don’t know. I am guessing not, but that message was just too ambiguous for me and wasted plenty of time for me to start and stop the software just to make sure. As I said, eventually I noticed the estimated size change to 4450 so I considered myself lucky and just moved forward.
Talking about moving forward, I have another issue with a different vid. I wont append that to this help thread though. I will start a new one for that. Better not to mix up different issues in a single thread.
Thanks for the help to all on this -
The message “Preferences will be applied to NEXT project” just means what it claims: new preferences will be applied when you will start a new project. Current project (if any) was started with different preferences on. That's all.
The operation flow should be (and I think it is quite logical):
- Install AVStoDVD
- Open AVStoDVD for the first time
- Go to Preferences and setup them. Save Preferences.
- Start working on DVD project (add file, setup project, select output, edit DVD Menu, etc...)
Anyway, feel free to suggest a less ambigous pop up message. It is just a string to change...
Bye -
Can I suggest… “Your change will be applied to this and any future projects.”
A message like this would validate with me that I don’t need to restart the software in order to make sure the new setting is active.
Thanks for looking in. It seems you have a great little program there.
