  1. hey guys - im kinda new to encoding stuff. what do you guys use to encode? which have you had the most secess w/? I have an All-in-wonder128 video card for my tvrips, but i want to keep the most quality i can - what do you guys use?

  2. most ppl here use tmpegenc or cce, the former is free the later far from...
    both give good results. for capturing I use the radeon 64ddr vivo and have been satisfied with the results, i've heard your card is pretty good. Your system speed will make a difference however on the capture.higher the frame rate without frame loss the less jerky, and the bigger the capture size the clearer the image...

  3. i have either a 1.1GHz or 1.4GHz (cant remember :P), how good do you think my rips will look w/ that kinda system speed?

  4. my card will do 8mb/sec tops <- i was wondering if my processer would handle that for one and 2, what would the quality of my finishing product be? - good? ive been reading around the forms and hear ppl talking that 2mb/s video is suposed to be real good and the most a dvdplayer can handle... am i getting something confused?

  5. your processor speed will not change the quality of your output. it will only change the speed of encoding.
    As to the bitrate of the video(i'd recomend you change video card, but that's not what your asking about) it depend on your end format. you can use a variable bit rate putting the highest at about 6meg per sec any faster might slow down your stream. If you just want to watch it on your comp you'll get a very good quality at about 2000kbps per sec with .avi's

    average dvd bit rate is between 5 and 8mbps
